Our home base / Parksville, BC

Parksville wedding videographer

We’re Ali & Nate, the husband-and-wife photo and film team behind Fern & Fire. Parksville is our home base, and Aly & Lucas’s wedding film at Tigh-Na-Mara is a real example of our work here.

If your day moves between getting ready, an oceanfront ceremony and a reception, tell us what matters most. We’ll talk through the coverage, the time between locations and how photography and film can work together—without taking over the day.

Tofino wedding videographer

Allyson & Jonathan’s Tofino wedding is our new featured film at Pacific Sands Beach Resort, with a ceremony at Cox Bay Cove. Watch their film above. We offer wedding and elopement film coverage on the west coast, with time to talk through your locations, timing and outdoor ceremony sound.

You can also watch Grace & Franco’s film at Tonquin Beach. It’s an engagement session—not a wedding—and another real example of our work in Tofino.

The elopement films

A little further
from everything.

Brooklyn & Jon, a helicopter ride and a ceremony beside a glacier-fed waterfall. One elopement, with two ways back into it: their Signature Highlight and a short teaser.

A smaller day can have a very big feeling.

The engagement films

Before the day.
Already your story.

A trip to the city. An evening by the ocean. You don’t need a wedding day to make a film together. This chapter deserves a place in the collection, too.

“your kindness and calm energy made everything feel so natural and fun.”

Different ways to keep the day

Short. Cinematic.
Or the whole story.

“We sat down and watched the video start to finish with our parents this evening! It was so special to relive the day!”
Tiffany & Sean

The Signature Highlight

A considered, music-led film, with the option of voices and vows woven in. The length depends on your coverage and collection.

The social film

A quick-turnaround video sneak peek: 20–40 seconds made for sharing while the day is still fresh. Available as an addition to your collection.

The Documentary Highlight

A chronological film with full ceremony and speech audio. Less condensed, more of the day. Explore the documentary example above.

Before you book

A few good
questions.

Practical answers for your wedding film, wherever you’re celebrating on Vancouver Island.

Where are you based, and do you film weddings across Vancouver Island?

We’re based in Parksville, BC, and offer wedding videography across Vancouver Island, including Nanaimo, Comox, Victoria and Tofino. Tell us your date, ceremony and reception locations, and any travel between them so we can plan coverage around your day.

How much does wedding videography cost?

Your quote depends on coverage hours and the films you choose. As a current example, eight hours of film-only coverage with one main highlight is CA$4,200 before GST. A second main highlight, a social film or an engagement session changes the total. Share your plans and we’ll send an itemized quote for your wedding.

What’s the difference between your wedding-film formats?

The Signature Highlight is a considered, music-led film, with the option of voices and vows woven in. The Documentary Highlight follows the day chronologically with full ceremony and speech audio; its length varies with the events captured. The Social Media Highlight is a 20–40 second sneak peek, available as an addition. We’ll help you choose the format and coverage that fit your day.

Can we book wedding photography and videography together?

Yes. We offer photography, film, and both together. We’re Ali & Nate, the people behind Fern & Fire, and we work through the timing and priorities with you. Let us know which moments you want photographed, filmed, or both, and we’ll build your coverage around that.

Do we need to be comfortable on camera?

Not at all. We’ll give you gentle direction and something to do, then leave room for the real laughs, nerves and little moments. You don’t need to perform for the camera or spend the whole day making a film.

How do we book our wedding videographer?

Start with your wedding date and location, whether you want film only or photography and film together, and the parts of the day you’d like covered. We’ll check availability, talk through your options and confirm the coverage and booking details with you.

The practical side of feeling everything

Good care is
part of the craft.

Behind the emotion, there’s a carefully considered process.

  1. More than one view.

    A professional three-camera setup.

  2. Keep the voices.

Dedicated audio recorders for the day.

  3. A little reassurance.

Backup equipment for the key pieces we rely on.
